In Thiranis, magic comes from the force of life. Magical energies radiate throughout the entire world, but only a portion of people are able to bend these magical energies to their will. So far no conflict has sprung from these differences and there are no tensions between either side.
Little research has been put into magic for it is seen as sacrilege to research a gift of the gods.
In Irathra, magic comes from the Springs of Power. It radiates with magical energies that spread into the world and several races across the globe can tap into these energies in various ways. Great civilizations have been built thanks to these powers and life itself has been changed far beyond what would otherwise have been possible.
In Odasite, magic comes from artifacts. There are only a few artifacts, but they grant their power to all those who get into contact with them, which gives everybody a chance to unlock their inner potential. Like medals, artifacts are given to those who've proved themselves capable in some shape or form so there's a desire to improve oneself in order to gain the powers through these rewards.
In Wolrantis, magic comes from the Ethereal Vortex. From it, magical energies seep into the world and enrich it with powers, but only some beings have the power to utilize these energies as they see fit. Unfortunately history has seen far too many cases of abuse of magical powers at the cost of those who cannot defend themselves.
In Wolrantis, magic comes from artifacts. The few artifacts that exist grant power to all those who wield them for as long as they wield them, but many seek to claim all artifacts for themselves. Some artifacts have had their power split into different objects to help create more equality and stability.
In Nizar, magic comes from the powers of ancestors. When a life ends, all their knowledge and magical energies flow from their life to a next one, so power can grow immensely if those who gain it at birth wield it responsibly. Wars have been fought in the past in an attempt to shift knowledge from one nation to another. By killing powerful people of one nation and making sure there are many birth in another, chances of reincarnation of powerful souls is higher in the latter.
In Gromor, magic comes from unseen deities. Both as an aid and reward, the gods bestow powers upon all those who have proved themselves in their eyes and more power awaits all those who continue to prove themselves. This is an attempt by the gods to keep mankind in check through rewards for good behavior, so far it seems to work.
The artifacts eventually run out of power, but more are found from time to time so nobody seems to care too much about this.
Around the world secret societies have risen to secure their darker ways. Those who happen to inherit their secrets are sought and absorbed into their ranks.
More and more research is put into the inner workings of these artifacts. Perhaps they can be replicated with different powers.
The gift of magic has proved to be both a blessing and a curse, and it remains to be seen whether the future will lean more toward the blessing side.
